LG전자와 스카이라이프는 지난 15일 서초구 양재동 LG전자 서초 R&D캠퍼스에서 공동 기자간담회를 갖고 3D TV 및 3D 방송 분야의 전략적 제휴를 발표, 양해각서(MOU)를 체결했다.
국내 3D TV의 元年이 될 내년을 겨냥한 이번 전략적 제휴는 양사가 기술 개발과 마케팅 협력을 추진함으로써 ‘3D TV와 3D 콘텐츠의 시너지’라는 강력한 경쟁력으로 시장을 주도하고, 국내 3D TV 시청자의 저변을 확대하기 위한 것이다.
이에 앞서 LG전자는 3D TV 관련 기술적 준비를 마치고 지난 8월 국내 최초의 3D LCD TV를 출시했고, 스카이라이프도 내년 1월 3D 전문채널 시험방송 개시를 목표로 지난 10월부터 24시간 시험 송출에 나서는 등 양사는 국내 3D TV 분야에서 적극적인 모습을 보여 왔다.
양사는 향후 ▲3D TV 및 3D 방송 관련 제품 및 기술 표준화 ▲3D 콘텐츠 제작 및 해외시장 보급 ▲3D TV와 3D 방송 복합상품 판매 등 폭넓은 분야에서 협력해 나갈 계획이다. 또한 한국형 3D 방송 기술 표준을 목표로 최적의 입체영상 구현에 역량을 집중할 계획이다.
42, 47, 55, 60, 72인치 등 다양한 3D TV 라인업을 구축한 3D TV 제품도 크게 늘리고, 고객 특성을 감안해 다양한 방식의 3D TV 제품을 선보이며 이밖에 3D 영화 제작 투자, 해외 3D 영화 수급 등도 공동으로 추진키로 했다.
한편, 3D TV 시청자의 저변 확대를 위한 공동 마케팅도 펼쳐진다. 현재 시험송출 중인 스카이라이프 3D 방송인 SKY3D채널을 LG전자 전국 대리점에서 소비자들이 시청할 수 있게 하고, LG전자 3D TV가 설치된 30여대의 스카이라이프 홍보 차량이 전국을 순회하는 등 체험 마케팅을 진행할 예정이다.
